Too often, we tend to wish things were different / we had better opportunities. We wish we were born into a billionaire family, we wish that a sad, unfortunate experience did not happen, we wish we were born or lived in a different part of town or the world, we wish we were taller or smarter or more beautiful / handsome ... and the list goes on.
Over the years and increasingly over the past 7 or so years, I have learned to use what I have got. Each day, I focus on using and improving the abilities that I already have. I develop the abilities I have. I have learned to make lemonade from lemons. I have learned to forge ahead and to focus on improving myself and stretching forward.
We wish we lived on the other side of the fence - where the grass is greener...
So if I want the grass to be greener where I find myself, I have realized that I have to put in the effort to tend to, water and take care of the grass where I find myself. The grass is green where you water it - not on the other side of the fence.
The focus has to be on using what I have got. So - what's in your hand? What abilities do you have? Do you have time? That of itself is a great resource. So focus on developing yourself and your environment. It's okay to give some balanced focus and love to YOU.
We all have abilities and time that we can improve and use better. It just takes a bit of time, effort and consistency - and in a few months or a few years, the grass will be greener. And your life will have a bit more sugar or sweetness....
Here's a book I ran into 9 years ago that will stimulate your thinking
